The home inspection...

So the home inspection yesterday was interesting...there seems to be a bit more work that needs to be done than we were expecting. We're weren't able to see the roof because it was covered in snow, so we're waiting to hear about that before we make the final decision. But it will be by Saturday.

Here's a picture of the house. It's quite cute. And it has an enclosed porch :) I'm hoping we hear good news on the roof. Looking forward to working on a house together with Josh and having an actual place of our own.

On the way home, we stopped by Grand Traverse Pie Company and had some yummy pies. Shepherd's pie pot pie (Josh had a chicken pot pie), and then chocolate cream pie for dessert :P

Yesterday was also Valentine's Day. Unfortunately I had to work the night before so I spent most of the day sleeping because I had to work last night as well. While I was passed out, Josh made me a yummy dinner. He also surprised me with a fairy jewelry box. He's the best :)

The bank...

is super slow according to Josh. However, they finally got back to us yesterday. So now that all the offering and counter-offering is done with, the only step left is the home inspection. The home inspection is scheduled for 10am next Tuesday. Hopefully we won't find anything horrible like mold in the walls.  After that is done, all we have to do is make the final decision on if we can live with any of the issues the home inspector finds. Then we may or may not be homeowners :D

The proposal...

As per Annie's request.

The Wednesday after we flew back to California, Josh and I drove down to Pescadero on a gorgeous day. Pescadero is this tiny little town where one can get some amazing freshly baked artichoke garlic bread. After taking a quick walk down pretty much the only main street, we stopped by Arcangeli Grocery and picked up a loaf of this bread, some artichoke dip, and some prosciutto for a picnic down by the beach.

We drove down the highway a bit, stopped by the side of the road and climbed down to the rocky shores. We've both missed the ocean so much, so we had lots of fun running down along and climbing rocks.

After running for a while, we stopped on a high ledge at the edge of the ocean and just stared out onto the horizon together. At this point, Josh turned me around, gave me a hug, said something I totally don't remember (oops ^^;; but I'm sure it was super romantic) and then pulled out a jewelry box, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I'm slightly embarrassed to say that I got kind of confused (it was totally his fault) mainly because the box contained two rings. Of course I ended up saying yes, but according to him, I let him sweat it out for a bit :)

We then proceeded to have our picnic by the ocean, talked forever, with me pinching myself every few seconds, and when not pinching myself getting distracted by my gorgeous ring :D Afterwards, we spent the rest of the afternoon looking at tide pools along the rocks and catching crabs. We even found an abalone shell! Not to mention the sheer amount of raptors we saw. The perfect day.

Afterwards, Josh told me that he decided to propose to me on the beach there, because that was where we went the first time he told me he loved me <3 Full circle.

I'm marrying a romantic :P

The beginning...

As most of you know, on December 14, 2011, Josh took me to an isolated beach down by Pescadero, and there on the rocky shores, he got down on one knee and proposed! Unfortunately, being engaged means I actually have to think about things like planning a wedding. Since I'm so far away from many of you, a few have suggested that I blog about the whole process (especially since I've never thought about getting married, so no dream wedding plans as of yet).

In addition to wedding plans, I figure I'll also include our new house news as well--seeing as how house-buying is part of the whole getting married deal, except we're apparently doing it backwards :P

We've just submitted all the paperwork (we offered, bank counter offered, and we accepted) and we're just waiting to hear back from the bank. Hopefully we’ll hear back soon. Then we can schedule a home inspection, and upon a successful home inspection we will get the house! I’ll post some photos of the house if we end up actually buying it, but here’s to hoping :)

As for the wedding, I honestly don’t really have any plans yet XD Josh and I were kind of talking about having it on April 8th some year (since that’s our anniversary) but it’s right in between our birthdays, so we may be trying to tear out each others throats during birthday time, which won’t be fun. And the only other decision I’ve tentatively decided on is color. I’m thinking light green, lavender, and ivory. We’ll see though. I’m so totally indecisive ^^;;
